YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME....

Again. Not again! Yep, Hailey smacked her head this morning on the metal frame of the futon. More blood, more tears, more screaming, more rocking, more medicine, more doctor calls. This is seriously getting old.

We will be living in a padded cell for the next week or so, so don't be surprised if you don't see us out and about.

Anyone have any bright ideas how to get Hailey to stop touching her head, falling, running, etc for the next little while? The doc said to drug her up with some benedryl every 6 hours to make her calmer...any other ideas? Keep in mind Carson is still here teasing her and running around egging her on.

This mornings journey...

Hailey had her one week checkup this morning at the Texas Childrens Hospital. BTW - I think they are fabulous! Well her appointment was scheduled for 10:20. I left the house at 9:15 to give myself plenty of time because it is ALWAYS crazy down in the medical district. We pull into the parking garage around 9:55. Excellent! Well, after checking all 4 floors, there isn't a spot in sight. There are about 15 cars circling the lot waiting to park. You have to be KIDDING me! Well, we finally see someone leaving, and I wait for about 5 minutes, holding up all the cars behind me, but we got a spot! We get up to the 8th floor and we are only 5 minutes late! Not too bad! Hailey and Carson had tons of fun in the waiting room. They made some new friends and were sad when we got called back into the room.

A last year student/intern comes in first and asks a bunch of questions and looks at her head. Then Dr. Bree comes in. She is really great. For the most part everything looks great. Hailey sutures are getting a little crusty, so that means MORE vasaline...which Hailey hates. But oh well, we schedule the appointment for next weeks suture removal and we are outta there! We ride the elevator down to the parking, pay the parking fee, and walk out to the car.

And then....

Hailey decides to throw a serious tantrum as I'm putting her in the car. She smashes her head against the car. I pick her up because she is screaming to try and calm her. I have blood on my coat and hands. I look at her head and there is blood where her stitches are. I freak out. I grab Carson and we RUN back up to the 8th floor. I'm bawling by the time I get there thinking crap they are going to have to do more stitches, and etc. etc. Of course they let me right back in and go grab the doctor. We get the blood to stop (it had pretty much stopped by now anyways though) and the doctor checks everything out. She tells me to stay for about 5-10 minutes and they'll check her again to make sure the lump isn't getting any bigger. It was huge. I paced with Hailey and we read a few books. The doc came back and said everything should be okay. So I gather everything back up, and reinsert my parking ticket to pay for the additional time, and get the kids buckeled in the car. We get home and unloaded at 1:30.

Boy oh boy, I can't wait for next weeks appointment.

Hailey Update

Hailey had her surgery yesterday. Everything went much better than the first time. They gave her some "pre-medicine" to make her a little loopy before they took her away from us. She was hillarious! It was nice not to have her screaming her guts out when they took her away. They also gave her a bunch of anti-nausea medicine since she threw up so much last time. The surgery took about one hour forty-five minutes. She was doing great yesterday, other than very iritable and cranky. She is also very unstable on her feet, yet wants to run around. She is not making it easy! Last night was rough with the sleep, but luckily Carson has a play date set up for this morning and Hailey and I can try to catch a few zzz's. We'll try to update with some photos of our little pumpkin later, but just wanted everyone to know we are doing okay!

Yes, I'm really slow at getting around to editing video. I like doing it, but just can't ever seem to find the time. If I keep putting it off I'm going to have to spend my entire retirement catching up! Here is a cute video of Carson's Preschool Christmas Program.

New year, new me! It was time to take the hairstyle to a new level. I decided to knock another one off the bucket list and donate my hair to locks of love. So...here are the pictures.

Bucket List Items 23 & 24 - Check

So Alisha has made more than just her friends motivated to get off the couch. I had a good excuse when I had to babysit while she trained, but now I guess I'd better do something besides make up for the pounds she's losing by eating potato chips. I was able to convince a few friends to run the Houston Rodeo Run (10K) with me on Feb 28. Yeah... I know it is less than 1/4 of the race Alisha did last week, but better than nothing!

Talk about knocking out a lot of the items on your bucket list in a short period of time. Aunt Barb organized another one of her fun family email games which prompted Alisha to cross off Mechanical Bull Riding from her bucket list at the rodeo last year and then start to train for her Marathon. Don't knock off too many more... you know what happens when there is nothing left on your bucket list! ;-)

We took the kids to the zoo this weekend and took a little ride on the mini train just outside the zoo. It winds through some parks and around some beautiful ponds and statues. The kids had a lot of fun and we captured a little clip with my phone.
